Overview

Every mandatory test for telecom PLB duct certification

HDPE Permanently Lubricated Bore (PLB) ducts protect optical-fibre cables inside city and highway networks. Because a duct that cracks 20 years after installation is impossible to replace without digging, standards such as TEC and telecom specifications set strict material, mechanical and long-term durability requirements.

This solution brings together every instrument a PLB duct producer needs to certify raw material and finished duct — from MFI, density and carbon black content on the resin to tensile, ESCR and OIT on the duct wall. Manufactured in Mumbai and calibration-certified.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What carbon black content is required for HDPE PLB ducts?
Telecom specifications commonly require 2.0 to 2.5% well-dispersed carbon black in the outer skin for the 50-year UV protection expected of buried and exposed ducts.
Why is OIT critical for PLB duct life?
OIT measures the antioxidant reserve left in the duct after extrusion. Low OIT means the duct has consumed its stabiliser package and could fail brittle within a decade instead of lasting 50 years.
Do PLB ducts require ESCR testing?
Yes — surface-active liquids and installation stresses combine over decades to crack under-specified HDPE. ESCR per ASTM D1693 is the accepted laboratory measure.
Can one lab certify both PLB ducts and HDPE pressure pipes?
Yes — 90% of the equipment overlaps. Add a hydrostatic pressure panel and SS tank and the same lab certifies HDPE pipe production to IS 4984 / ISO 4437.
