Overview

Yarn to woven sack — every strength & grammage test

Woven sack, FIBC and technical fabric producers are graded on tape tenacity and elongation, sack tensile and drop performance, seam strength and grammage. A drift in any of these shows up as burst bags at the customer.

This solution brings together the instruments an HDPE/PP woven-sack laboratory needs — from a UTM for tape and seam strength to a GSM balance for fabric grammage and an oven for shrinkage. Manufactured in Mumbai to ASTM, ISO and IS methods used across the raffia industry.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is denier and how is it measured?
Denier is mass in grams of 9,000 metres of a yarn or tape — a direct measure of linear density. It's calculated from tape length and weight; instruments like our UTM report tenacity in cN/tex or grams per denier.
What tenacity should a HDPE raffia tape achieve?
Typical HDPE raffia targets 5.5–6.5 g/denier tenacity with 15–25% elongation, but the right value depends on end-use — FIBC tapes usually need higher tenacity than sugar-sack tapes.
Do you supply a burst tester for sacks?
Burst is usually assessed via load-carrying tests on our UTM using inflated sacks or by dropping filled sacks. A dedicated burst-pressure rig is not part of our standard offer.
Which single machine covers most raffia QC?
A UTM with tape grips and film jaws is the anchor instrument — it runs tenacity, elongation, fabric tensile and seam strength across the whole product line.
