How to Choose Plastic Testing Equipment: A Buyer's Guide from 50+ Years of Manufacturing

Published 2026-07-16 · International Equipments, Mumbai

Testing equipment is bought rarely and kept for decades — which means most buyers are making each decision for the first time, while the consequences of a wrong choice (failed audits, disputed results, stranded capacity) last twenty years. After manufacturing testing machines since 1971 and equipping laboratories in 60+ countries, here is the decision framework we give our own customers.

Start from Standards, Not Machines

List the product standards you certify to and the customer specifications you must satisfy; each test clause names its method (ASTM/ISO/IS), and each method dictates the machine, capacity, fixtures and accuracy class. This sequence prevents both classic mistakes: the under-specified machine that fails an audit, and the over-specified one that wastes budget. Our pipe lab checklist and film lab guide show the method-to-machine mapping in action.

Specifications That Actually Matter

Evaluating a Manufacturer

Ask three questions: How long have they manufactured this instrument class? Which certification-holding plants use their machines? Will they support installation, training and calibration for the machine's whole life? International Equipments has answered those questions since 1971 — India's pioneer in MFI testing, CE-certified, exporting to 60+ countries, with machines spanning material, plastic, polymer, pipe, film and rubber testing. Send us your standard's test clauses and we will return a configured, clause-mapped quotation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Should I buy imported or Indian-made testing equipment?
Judge by standards compliance, calibration traceability and support - not origin. Indian-manufactured machines meeting ASTM/ISO clause requirements with local service typically deliver better lifetime value, and are themselves exported worldwide.
What warranty and support should I expect?
Expect at minimum a one-year warranty, installation and operator training, calibration at handover, and committed spares availability - get support terms in writing alongside the technical offer.
How do I compare quotations for the same machine type?
Normalise them against the standard's clauses: accuracy class, included fixtures/dies, calibration certificates, training and spares. The cheapest bare machine is rarely the cheapest working laboratory.
Can one supplier equip my entire laboratory?
A manufacturer covering the full range simplifies calibration scheduling, training and service - International Equipments supplies complete laboratories from a single machine to full certification benches.
