
An OIT apparatus based on the Differential Thermal Analysis (DTA) principle, checking the oxidation induction time of polymers — a very sensitive test needing only 8–10 mg of sample, at 200 °C under an 80 cc/min oxygen flow.
Polyolefins are protected from thermal-oxidative degradation by antioxidants, and Oxidation Induction Time measures how much protection remains. A small sample (8–10 mg) is held isothermally in a reference/specimen pan pair; nitrogen is switched to oxygen and the time to the exothermic onset of oxidation is recorded. A short OIT means the stabiliser package is inadequate or depleted.
International Equipments builds an OIT apparatus on the DTA principle — barrel water-cooled, a digital PID controller to 300 °C ±0.5 °C, precision N₂/O₂ regulators and rotameters, and Indium-melting-point temperature calibration per DOT specification. Results (Delta Temperature vs Time and OIT) are graphed and printed through a PC. Manufactured in Mumbai, CE marked and calibration-certified.
