Digital Zero Degree Chamber

A digital low-temperature conditioning chamber that holds pipe samples at 0 °C before impact testing, as required by IS 4984 and IS 12235 (Part 9).

  • Conditions pipe specimens at 0 °C for impact testing
  • Working chamber 16 in × 16 in × 16 in
  • Inner bath stainless steel, outer body mild steel
  • CFC-free compressor; 230 V single-phase

Overview

Consistent specimen temperature for valid impact results

Pipe impact standards require specimens to be conditioned at 0 °C for a set time before testing, because plastics become markedly more brittle in the cold. Testing without proper conditioning gives scattered, non-comparable results.

International Equipments builds a digital zero degree chamber that holds pipe samples at a stable 0 °C until they are transferred to the impact tester, meeting IS 4984 and IS 12235 (Part 9). The inner bath is stainless steel, the outer body mild steel, and the compressor is CFC-free. Manufactured in Mumbai and CE marked.

How the test works

Step by step

  1. Set the temperatureSet 0 °C (or the required temperature) on the digital controller and allow the chamber to stabilise.
  2. Load specimensPlace the pipe samples in the stainless steel inner bath.
  3. ConditionHold the specimens for the time required by IS 4984 / IS 12235 (Part 9).
  4. Transfer & testMove the conditioned specimens quickly to the impact tester and test.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Why condition pipe samples at 0 °C before impact testing?
Plastics embrittle at low temperature, so IS 4984 and IS 12235 (Part 9) specify conditioning at 0 °C for a set time. Consistent conditioning is essential for repeatable, comparable impact results.
What is the chamber size?
The working chamber is 16 in × 16 in × 16 in, with a stainless steel inner bath and mild steel outer body; other sizes are available on request.
Which testers does it pair with?
It is used ahead of pipe impact testers and Izod/Charpy impact testers.
Is the compressor environmentally friendly?
Yes — it uses a CFC-free compressor.
