Overview

Adhesion is what stops paint peeling in the field

Paint, coating and plating jobs fail through adhesion loss: films peel, powder coating chips, plating flakes. Getting the pre-treatment, primer and curing right needs an adhesion test that gives a numeric strength, not a subjective visual check.

This solution supplies the peel, pull-off and cross-cut equipment for paint, powder-coat, printing-ink and plating labs. Peel and shear tests share the tensile / UTM platform, so one instrument covers a wide range of geometries.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What's the difference between peel and pull-off?
Peel pulls one flexible layer away at an angle (90° / 180°) and measures the force per width. Pull-off is a tensile test on a bonded dolly, measuring the force to detach the coating perpendicular to the substrate.
Does a UTM replace a dedicated peel tester?
For most peel work yes, with the appropriate grips. A dedicated peel tester is more economical if you only run seal / label peel and don't need the full UTM capability.
Can this cover ASTM D3359 cross-cut testing?
Cross-cut is a manual test using a scribing tool and rating chart, so we can supply the tool but there's no instrument reading involved. The peel tester covers the numeric methods.
Do you supply the pull-off dollies?
Yes — dollies and jigs for the IS 15477 tile-adhesive setup are supplied with the Adhesives Testing Machine; specific pull-off dolly sizes for paint standards are configured to your requirement.
